What we do

Recalibrate is a private clinic in Strandhill, Sligo run by Ciara Mulrooney, a Certified Athletic Rehabilitation Therapist.

A passion of sport and exercise from a young age has led me to this profession, it sparked an interest in how and why the body moves and reacts in certain ways. This and knowing first-hand the pain and disappointment when injured means I understand people’s needs, worries and expectations. I know injuries can happen anywhere at any time!
At Recalibrate I provide a service which enables individuals to receive knowledgeable and effective treatment.  My aim is to allow patients to improve their active daily living by enhancing their movement and decreasing their pain.

I achieve this by using these simple steps:

  1. Listen to your unique story.
  2. Assess what may be causing the issue.
  3. Educate you on your pain and functional movement.
  4. Individualise your treatment to your specific needs and goals.
  5. Support you as an individual to remain pain free into the future.

INJURY ASSESSMENT

INJURY ASSESSMENT

At Recalibrate I can assess your injury or pain whether it’s recent or long term and whether it's sports related or not. I will devise a plan to allow you to remain pain free into the future. To do this I will treat the injury using a combination of hands on techniques and specific rehabilitation exercises allowing you to move well and recover effectively.

sports massage

SPORTS MASSAGE

Can relieve muscular tension, improve recovery and alleviate soreness. I will adapt the sports massage session to suit your specific needs, whether the massage is deep, pre event, post event or in between training sessions. It will allow the body to reset the muscles and optimize its movement.

SPORTS SPECIFIC TRAINING

SPORTS SPECIFIC TRAINING

Is there an area you need to improve in your sport? With knowledge across various sports and exercises I can help you reach your full potential by tailoring programmes to suit your specific needs. Are you getting your maximum power when you swing a hockey stick? Is how you follow through kicking a ball the best technique for you?

DRY NEEDLING

DRY NEEDLING

This involves inserting sterile acupuncture needles into areas of muscles known as trigger points. These are areas of tension which cause pain and tension within the body. Dry needling will treat these problem areas breaking down the pain cycle. This differs from acupuncture which follows Traditional Chinese Medicine, dry needling follows western medicine research.

INJURY PREVENTION

Are you or your club members suffering too many injuries over the season? With Recalibrates help you can reduce the number of injuries you may potentially sustain.
